No treats at our house...

Happy Halloween, everyone. Sadly, there are no treats at the castle this year....for the kiddies or the grownups.

I finally inquired about the position I interviewed for back in mid-September -- they've selected the candidates for on-campus interviews, and I didn't make the cut. *sigh* I'm a little irritated...I thought I had an awesome phone interview, and my qualifications seemed ideal for the position. Oh well. At least I HAVE a job, right? And DH is halfway through a graduate program he loves, with a position in an honor society that could give him some great professional connections. So really, it isn't as terrible as it could be. I was just getting all psyched up for a change.....

In my frustration yesterday, I had a bit of a slip on the Challenge. *gulp* I needed some specialty floss that my LNS doesn't carry, and I was browsing Nordic Needle.....and found the Victoria Sampler Iowa heart from the Hearts of America series. I've been looking for something Iowa-related to stitch for DH and/or some of his family members, and this is really cute. The other possibility was a little Iowa band sampler by Eventide Designs, but I can't find that anywhere. So I was weak, and added the VS Iowa kit to my cart. At least it was on sale, right? And it will be a gift, so it wasn't purely self-indulgent S.E.X.

As for the ghouls and goblins tonight, DH and I have decided to be the neighborhood Halloween Grinches. We haven't put up a single decoration, and he has class tonight. I'm going to leave the lights off and spend the trick-or-treat hours either crafting or at the gym. Last year was just ridiculous, with all the little monsters from other neighborhoods being dropped off on our street corner and racing down the sidewalk with open pillowcases....they don't even wear costumes anymore. Ugh. They just stand there on the stoop in their street clothes, holding open sacks....can't be bothered to say "trick or treat" or even "please" and "thank you". Grrrrrrrrr.

Erin, we get the same type of trick or treaters here. The military families that live out in town don't trust their neighborhoods enough to t/t there so they bring them on base. If you don't have a costume or are an adult, you don't get anything from me.

Jack and I won't be giving out candy either. We are just a bit short of money at the end of the month. I will be happily stitching thank you with my hubby! You are not a grinch either my dear!

I've heard that quite a bit lately about kids not dressing up and going about just to get candy. I've never given out candy or anything. When my nieces/nephews were younger, I had halloween sleepovers and gave prizes (not candy... kids get too much candy, if you ask me). They had a ball! *sigh* They're getting too big for it now.

Wow, that sounds horrible, kids don't even dress up anymore. I dont give candy to kids who don't dress up, or say trick or treat and if they are like 15 and up they get nothing either cause I think halloween is more for the kids.

I am sorry you didn't get the job. Hopefully another one will come along soon.

Craft Sale!

So my mother and I set up our little table at the craft fair this past weekend.  And we didn't do terribly!  I sold $125 worth of needle...
