So I Didn't Exactly STITCH This Weekend...

...but I did ORGANIZE!

Saturday I picked up 2 of these stackable drawer thingies at Wal-Mart (BTW, I DESPISE Wal-Mart, just so you understand the depth of my commitment to organization!). The top set are numbered 1 thru 30, and contain the entire set of Six Strand Sweets - 154 colors - sorted alphabetically. The bottom set is divided by colors - Black, Blue, Brown, Gray, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, Yellow, White, & Multi - with several colors having multiple drawers. And if that isn't enough....I made myself a database. I included the manufacturer, color name, type of fiber (the collection I won contained some linen, silk and wool along with perle and 6-strand cottons), and location, and then assigned each to a color family. So you can sort by color, find all the purples - if that's what you're looking for - and then pull them out and compare. With 250+ skeins of floss, this was a massive undertaking! But if I hadn't done it, I'd probably never know exactly what I had.....

Wow thats dedication, and to go to Walmart as well.. :)

Love the database idea though, sounds so simple doesnt it when you read it, it just becomes a nightmare when you actually go to implement it. But you have the hard bit done now..congrats!!

I share your feelings about Wal-Mart, but every now and then one must face the beast. :D You've done an amazing job organizing - I'm so very impressed!

I've been trying to come up with a good way to store my specialty flosses so I can still *see* them and I think you've just shown me the way!

Thanks....and I *totally* understand the aversion to WM. I feel the same ;)

Wow, I am impressed! I don't know if I have the patience. Are stackable things like tackle boxes? I haven't seen those before. It looks great!

Craft Sale!

So my mother and I set up our little table at the craft fair this past weekend.  And we didn't do terribly!  I sold $125 worth of needle...
