This is "Autumn is Here" by Helga Mendl, from the September 2009 issue of The Gift of Stitching magazine. I stitched it over-one on some 28-ct. evenweave (it may have been 25-ct., it was the packaged stuff from the hobby store, and it never seems very exact), using DMC floss. The finishing idea came to me as I was wondering the wood aisle at the craft store - I was looking for a box or frame of some kind, and then I saw the fence pieces. Why not, I thought? I think it turned out pretty cute!
And I finished and framed this myself, for DH and I.
The Vikings were a little kit by the Danish Handwork Guild that I picked up at Celebrations. I changed the colors a little - I gave the man brown eyes like DH, changed the girl's eyes and hair, and as a result of that change I had to swap around her outfit as well (the pattern had her underdress as brown - once I used the brown for her hair, that was just too much brown!). I added our names and wedding date, and laced it to fit a little 3" x 5" frame that I picked up at the thrift store for 99 cents.
