One of my renaissance faire acquaintances just got custody of her grandchildren, ages 2 and 4, after the death of their youngest sibling (10 months old). She has been understandably quiet about the whys and wherefores of the whole situation, but I'm a librarian....and court documents are public records... I feel a little guilty for even looking, but it wasn't hard for me to discover that the children's parents - who would be the son and daughter-in-law of the woman I know - seem a bit unsavory, to say the least. Now, I don't know the whole story, but the court filings online show at a dozen or so various criminal charges, including improper handling of firearms, receiving stolen property, and child endangerment -- ugh. Anyway. The 2 year-old will turn 3 during our faire's run, and I'm pretty sure there will be all kinds of fuss made over this! And it gave me an idea.
See, I've had this rolled up in a box for several years now.
It was my first project on evenweave, and the first time I played with beads (in her floral necklace). I like it, but it isn't exactly something I feel the need to display. But for a 3 year-old who dreams of being a princess...what do you think?? I have this crazy idea that I could drop it off at the faire box office, and ask someone there to deliver it at an appropriate time. That way no one would know exactly who it was from, and they wouldn't feel that they couldn't accept it...plus I would get the warm fuzzy of (hopefully!) watching it arrive, since I'm guessing it might be delivered at the end-of-day pub sing.
So I'm off to the LNS again this morning, hoping my framer can do something 1) affordable and 2) QUICK.....(Faire starts next weekend!)

How beautiful! I never get tired of looking at your work. I think a future princess would love the inspiration from that. I have a friend's 6 year old who plans to be a princess when she grows up and she loves my stitching stuff. She thinks those who stitch are princesses beacause she saw it in a movie one day (I think it was Rapunzel stitching as she waited to be rescued or that Rumplestitlskin movie.) If so, then I guess I must return to my chambers and lay with my jewelry because princess don't sit behind desks all day!
