Just making it up as I go

Here it is, the wedding sampler I'm creating for my brother-in-law and his wife. (I'm posting it small so you can click on it to see a larger version - for some reason, that doesn't always work when I select the large image size.) Their invitation is hanging from the frame, so you can see where I got a bit of my inspiration from....

"My" design started with the center bit - it is The Sweetheart Tree's "Enchantment" Teenie Tweenie. I still need to fill in the rest of the square, but I'm waiting for the beads and over-dyed floss I need to arrive. The top band is from the Sweetheart Needle Roll pattern, and I'm going to repeat it at the bottom. The verse at the top reads: Two spirits approach,/and at their touching,/Behold!/An everlasting star! It is from a poem based on a love story from Irish mythology - the poem is titled "Fand" by William Larminie. I found that part of it in the preface of a book called Celtic Love. I'd love to find the whole poem somewhere, though, so I could include something about it in the card that will go with the gift. Hmmm.
I'm discovering that I really like the band sampler style....you see progress so quickly!!
