Welcome to My Wilderness

Last night I stitched a bit on my neighborhood round robin square. It doesn't seem quite as "elegant" as some of the others I've seen, but it does suit me, I guess.... DH likes it, too. (He even had an opinion on the border style!)


My neighborhood will have a woodsy/wilderness theme. All the squares will be 70x70, on 32-ct. Queen Anne's Lace jobelan. In my square, the house and trees are from a magazine pattern by Brown House Studio - but of course I monkeyed with the colors a bit. My favorite change is the hand-dyed I used for the house roof..."Tobacco Leaf" by The Dye Is Cast. The deer and the skunk came from samplers by Something in Common, and the bunny and bird I "designed" myself. I still have some things to add....some grass, and maybe something in the background? I'm not sure how to go about that, though. The checkered border is done in The Dye is Cast's "Gingerbread." I was just going to use a plain straight line to border the boxes, but as I said above, DH liked this one better. I just hope it doesn't come out too "cutesy"....
