Wedding Woes

So I've mentioned repeatedly here that I have three wedding gifts to stitch this year. The first is in June - the couple that is having a beach wedding in the Virgin Islands. I purchased "Sensational Summer" just for this occasion, and I've had a lot of fun stitching the little beach scene! I haven't yet added the bride and groom's names, and I was still toying with finishing ideas.

The other night DH called his friend - the groom - to chat. I poked him and whispered, "hey, ask if they'd like a piece of needlework framed, or as a pillow, or something else."

Well, evidently the groom discussed it with his intended, and they came to the conclusion that "it isn't something they want or would use." !!!!!!

I guess I'm glad to know this before I actually gave them anything....but it STILL hurts. Makes me want to give them an ugly crystal vase and see if they "want or would use" THAT. *sigh* Oh well. I suppose it is my own fault, for getting all involved in a project before I checked to see if the intended recipients would want it in the first place. Now I have to figure out what to do with a cute little beach scene in a heart -- it is cute, but not exactly my style. Any ideas?

Oh, that's too bad, Erin. I wouldn't take it too personally though, we all have our own individual tastes. At least you now have the opportunity to give it to someone who will appreciate it.

1) I'll buy or trade that pattern from you if you don't want it anymore

2) I still love the idea of the album from the Wagon

I'm very sorry about the rejection. I know how it feels.

Oh, I know exactly how you feel when your stitching is "rejected" like that. Just be thankful you found out *before* it was given as a gift!

That stinks. Hey, at least you still have it, and it's not going to molder away in someone's basement for years or worse.

You could save it for the next beachy wedding (or beachy anniversary party) and add the names then.

Sorry they were so rude to outright refuse your gift! Obviouly people who don't value handcrafts.

If you know someone with kids it would be great for a kids room or bathroom.

That stinks! I just don't understand people who don't appreciate handmade gifts.

Craft Sale!

So my mother and I set up our little table at the craft fair this past weekend.  And we didn't do terribly!  I sold $125 worth of needle...
