I got the original idea from Jo, when she posted these many moons ago. But for some reason, I felt that they needed a flap over the top, so I tinkered around until I got something close to what I envisioned! I lined the front because I was worried that the potpourri might discolor the stitching (??? - silly, I know), and then lined the back simply because I am lazy and didn't want to bother with an honest-to-goodness hem. I just sewed around what would be the flap, then sewed all 4 thicknesses of the front and back together. The hardest part - for me, anyway - was the buttonhole. Eeek! My sewing machine has a buttonhole STITCH, but I don't have the special foot to do it correctly, so I just did a rather messy blanket stitch by hand. It came out ok, but I need more practice.....
Right now it is filled with a packet of "Grapevine" potpourri, and my whole upstairs smells like Kool-Aid! I think I might give this to my mom for Christmas...I could put it in the same box as the kitty pillow, and then everything would smell lovely.
