A new throne for the princess!

My folks came out yesterday, and Dad and DH put in a new toilet!!! Yay!! (Is it strange that I'm so excited over a toilet?? hehehe) When we bought the house, the tub and toilet were an icky pinky-taupe color, now we have a white tub (thanks to Rebath) and toilet. They also switched out the bathroom vanity light - no more 1980's-style gold wall sconce thingie. Now I have a nifty modern-looking fixture with a mirrored back that 1) looks like it was made to go with my medicine cabinet and 2) makes the bathroom a LOT brighter. Of course, now you can see how badly the ceiling needs to be sanded and repainted....but the bathroom is almost finished! Some paint and some new hardware (faucets, cabinet handles, switchplate covers) and my horrid magenta-flower wallpapered bathroom will be gone!!!

While the boys played with plumbing and electricity, Mom and I went to the craft store. We bought fabric for the much-anticipated wedding garb! It was pricey, but Mom insisted that the stuff we got was perfect and she wouldn't hear of looking for anything cheaper. And since she was paying.....who was I to argue?!?!? hehehe We've decided to do one of the floor-length A-line dresses with big bell sleeves, with a coordinating vest. (If you are curious, it is McCall's pattern number 4492.) We got a polyester - I know, NOT period, but still gorgeous - taupe shantung for the dress, and a brown-and-blue brocade for the vest. Thank goodness for sales and Jo-Ann's coupons!! I have a gold necklace that should look nice with it, and now I need to find some kind of gold belt. I need to decide if I want a "functional" belt or a decorative one....I'm thinking decorative. And then I'll find some pretty fabric to make a shoulder bag for my insulin and other non-period accoutrements. Oooo, maybe I'll even encorporate some stitching......

Congrats on getting your new fixtures. It's the little things. :D

I just wanted to say that your cube turned out GREAT! Love how you did it! Could you take a pic so we could see the feet, I'm just curious. :D

Also, I just wanted to say that I had to take down the link to the no sew cube for reasons I don't want to go into, but if people ask me I will be happy to email it to them. (You linked to it so they can use that too.) :) I still give out the instructions to anyone that wants them I just don't have the "insta" link there. Glad you could use them. :D
