I have three pairs of scissors. The ones I use most often aren't anything special, they came with my pincushion. (I love my pincushion, BTW - it looks like the old "tomato" cushions, except it has a flat bottom, rainbow-colored "segments," and a hole in the center where the scissors fit point-down.) I have a pair of small Gingher embroidery scissors that I adore, but I always feel like they should be reserved for something "special." And finally I have the inexpensive stork shears that my mom purchased for me last month. Right now they are wearing Dani's pretty fob! There is a pic of them back in my July 10 entry. I also have a Clover cutter, and a couple pairs of those cheapy nippers that look like stubby markers when they are closed and capped that I throw into travel bags and such. Really, I see scissors as a necessary tool, but not so much something to collect or lust after. I suppose if I did Hardanger or other cutwork, I might feel differently.....
Oh, and thank you all so much for the comments yesterday. I get these crazy wild hairs sometimes....feeling that I want to drop everything and move somewhere new.....and with each passing year that gets harder. Getting married, buying a house, DH taking graduate classes - all of these things start to feel like anchors from time to time. Somedays I enjoy that sense of rootedness, but other days not so much. And from a purely professional development standpoint, my current job doesn't offer much. So I'll probably apply.....but to worry about more than putting my resume together is really putting the cart before the horse at this point.
The beading suggestions were great, too.....and now I'm feeling ready to jump into the mermaids and bead a bit as I go!!! ( I love them, BTW....and I've named them after myself and my sister. Pics tomorrow, I promise!)
