Adventures in Sewing

Yesterday I finally got brave and took the sewing machine out of the plastic wrap....

And I think I did pretty well!

The little pillow came out about 5 inches wide by 6 inches high (it is sitting on my iPod Mini box, to give you a frame of reference). There are a few mistakes - The angle I took the pic from is a bit forgiving of my less-than-straight seam on the left side - and a couple times I think I sewed the "tail" of the bobbin thread in, then cut it, and as a result the stitches didn't hold. Oh well. I fixed those spots with a bit of tacky glue on the tip of a toothpick! It certainly isn't perfect, and a skilled seamstress would probably giggle if they saw it, but I'm still pleased with myself. Hey, at leat I didn't sew my thumbs together!!! hehehe

Very cute, Erin! I like the colours you chose and the design is adorable. I'm not a seamstress myself but I think you did a really great job!

Very Nice! Your color choices are perfect to go with Popcorn. You did a great job on it. No one would know of the mistakes if you didn't tell us.

I think it turned out great! The only way to become a great seamstress is to practice. :D Love the colors. :D

Wonderful sewing job, Erin! And you'll just get better with each project. Don't let too much time go in between tho - that's been one of my problems.
