Just to make you all wait, let's start with the SBQ....
Do you mark or hi-lite your patterns or can you follow them without any markings? Do you make copies to mark up, or do you mark originals?
There was a time when I didn't mark my patterns....then I discovered several old UFOs in a box, one of them my "ivory castle" kit, which is an ivory castle (duh) stitched in about 5 shades of off-white and tan on ivory Aida. Finishing it was horrid, because it took me forEVER to figure out which areas were stitched! So from then on, especially on larger patterns or those that use several shades of the same color, I highlight. I only highlight working copies, though, never originals.

And now, just because you all asked so nicely....here is my "Once Upon a Time". Or at least, as much of her as would fit on my scanner! This is actually most of what I have finished - if I do another scan I'll have to do the dreaded "pasting together of scanned sections" trick.

I'm not sure what the fabric looks like on everyone else's monitors, but from here it looks a lot pinker than it is IRL. The fabbie is a Silkweaver Solo that I got a year or 2 ago, and DH and I started calling it "Cotton Khaki". It is a blend of pinks and tans.....kind of parchment-y with a kiss of lip gloss! I think it will look great with a dark, ornate frame - especially once the darker brown of the castle is added (in the upper left).

I know what you mean by a SAL - every one of my project is a loner - which is why I post as many WIP pics as possible on my blog. I need all the encouragement I can get.
Your stitching is looking fantastic - that's the good thing about blogging, even though we're not stitching the same thing, we get to share your progress, and give you moral support when you need it :)
