Musings on Maynia

By now I think most of the online stitching world knows about "Maynia" -- the annual craziness that involves starting lots of new projects in May.  It has evolved to mean different things to different stitchers, everything from 31 starts to 18 starts to a "monogamous" model where a stitcher spends the whole month on a single project.

So this year I decided to give it a try.  Now, I'm not a 31-start stitcher by any means, but it IS nice to have a whole pile of projects kitted up and easy to grab when the urge strikes!  I think I have 5 biggish projects waiting in the wings: Serendipity Designs' "Seaside Angel," "Secret Sky" by Modern Folk Embroidery, 2 of the designs from Blackbird Designs' "Garden Club" series, "Red St. Nicklaus" by Astor Place, and "Turrets and Town" from Ink Circles.  I know some of those aren't "big" by some people's standards, but for me, anything much larger than an ornament can take me a while!  And I've also kitted several smalls.  The one I posted yesterday was an unintentional start - and finish - from Celebration, and here is another one that I grabbed from the cast-off bin in the stitcher's lounge.  It was fully kitted, although I did swap out the fabric.  It included a dark purple fabric - not the best for all the purple floss! - so I'm using 30-ct. Garden State Java.
Also while I was at Celebration, I made a decent amount of progress on Turrets and Town, and put in just a handful of stitches on Secret Sky (mostly because I bought the fabric there, and wanted to see how my floss colors would work).  AND I started and finished a small - a little pattern I found on Etsy of the little worm from the movie, Labyrinth.  You know, the little fellow who says "'allo!" ?  My husband requested it for his desk at work, and I will share a picture of it soon.

Enjoy your Maynia stitches! Does the Garden State Java fabric have a tinge of green to it? Pretty threads and fabric!

I am not able to do stitch mania, I am OCD when it comes to stitching, one project from start to finish in the stitch world.
Could you please email me your blog address so I may add it to my blog roll.

Blessings
