Quilting Like Crazy

After getting the pirate quilt back, I was suddenly hit by the urge to start another quilt!  And it didn't hurt that a dear friend of mine admired the pirate quilt, saying that he "could see the love that went into it" and commenting that no one had ever done anything like that for him.  Well then.  Anyone who knows me at all knows what happened next....I went out Googling for free simple quilt patterns, and ended up with the "Snuggly Layer Cake Throw" from Melissa Mortenson.  It is designed for a Moda layer cake fabric pack, but I always have to be different.  My friend is a fisherman and lover of the outdoors, so I started making a color/fabric palette that would reflect that.  Here's my start:
I adore the center piece - the little cabin scene - and the fishermen on the blue (bottom row, on the left).  But I don't think the fabric with the flies is working.  It is just too orange.  So I've ordered a replacement, but of course it isn't here yet...so I wait.  It is not quite as bright, but like the flies it won't require fussy cutting (like the cabin and fishermen did).
I think it will work, despite the fact that it has greens instead of the blues I am using in the accent blocks.  There is still brown and cream to tie it together.

I'm really excited to get this put together!  it will probably be my "week after Christmas" project.

That is turning out so nicely, I think you will be happier with your new fabric. Looking forward to your progress.

Craft Sale!

So my mother and I set up our little table at the craft fair this past weekend.  And we didn't do terribly!  I sold $125 worth of needle...
