Not Knots - SBQ, 12/12/2007

Do you do anything special to your threads before putting them through your fabric to make them more manageable?

Not usually -- although I recently discovered Thread Heaven, and have used it from time to time on all the metallics necessary for the Mermaids. Maybe I should try it sometime on cotton floss, especially "kinky" hand-dyeds....

I can't believe this coming weekend will be my last to prepare before Christmas - yikes! (Next weekend we'll be visiting family, and celebrating a few days early.) So there probably won't be much stitching done here....I have to get some things organized, laundry done, a batch of peanut brittle made...plus, I'm working at the library Sunday night. Ugh. Why isn't there more time for the things I want to do? *sigh*

I DID start something else new, though (why am I always doing that???? hehehe). There was a freebie over at Cyberstitchers that really spoke to me, especially after the miscarriage last month. It is a little geometric design with a quote from Anne Frank in the center -- it reads, "think of all the beauty still around you and be happy." It isn't very big, but there are several colors involved, so it is rather slow going. Working on it makes me smile, though, so I'll keep stitching! Also, when I left the hospital they gave me a "pregnancy loss packet" that had a little scrap of fabric in it -- evidently it was supposed to be be a keepsake baby blanket, or something equally (in my opinion) creepy. Well, I didn't know what to do with it....until I realized it would match the colors in the stitched design very nicely. So I'll use it to make a pillow -- heck, can't throw out a perfectly good bit of fabric, now can I??? And it DOES seem appropriate.

I love Thread Heaven!!! The Crystal tree I am working on would be unbearable without it. I know the blanket seems a little creepy but the good thoughts were there. I beautiful pillow will make you feel better about it.

Craft Sale!

So my mother and I set up our little table at the craft fair this past weekend.  And we didn't do terribly!  I sold $125 worth of needle...
