Holiday Meme, just because

Borrowed from Karen...

Welcome to the Christmas edition of getting to know your friends. Okay, here's what you're supposed to do, and try not to be a SCROOGE!!! Just copy this entire blog post and paste it into a new blog post. Change all the answers so that they apply to you. "Tis the Season to be NICE!" Notice... 25 questions. Definitely keeping with the season.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper.
2. Real tree or artificial? We don't have an actual tree - a consequence of 1) having pets and 2) usually being at my parents' place for Christmas.
3. When do you put up the tree? see Question 2! About 2 weeks ago, though, I did hang my itty-bitty "wall tree" up in the dining room and put a string of lights and some teeny ornaments on it.
4. When do you take the tree down? When I can muster the motivation.
5. Do you like eggnog? Not really. Too rich and full of calories for a diabetic.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? books. And I still vividly remember getting my Fisher-Price record player...
7. Do you have a nativity scene? I do, but it isn't displayed.
8. Hardest person to buy for? My dad, and sometimes my husband.
9. Easiest person to buy for? My mom, and sometimes my husband.
10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Well, it wasn't the "worst," but it was a bit of a let-down....it was the year my DH had asked my father's blessing to propose (I knew the conversation had happened). So we're at my parents' house, we'd finished opening gifts, when my dad says, "oh, Erin, there's one more for you back here," and he pulls out a big box. My first thought - of course - is that DH has wrapped an engagement ring inside several consecutively larger boxes! But it was a calendar - and it was my DAD who had wrapped it in a giant box. LOL
11. Mail or email Christmas cards? Put a stamp on 'em.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Anything but "It's a Wonderful Life." (My BIL's follow-up to the "every time a bell rings" line...."...and every time a gong sounds, an angel BURSTS INTO FLAME!!")
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I pick up things as I see them throughut the year.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Not exactly...although I DID put a wedding picture in a frame that was given to us as a wedding gift and give it to my grandmother for Christmas.
15. Favorite thing to eat and drink at Christmas? Mom's spinach souffle and corn casserole.
16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? Both are okay with me.
17. Favorite Christmas song? Carol of the Bells...O Holy Night (as performed by the choir director at my old high school)....Sleigh Ride (the "pure" orchestral/instrumental version my band used to play)....Angels We Have Heard On High.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? HOME!
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yep.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Santa.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? People who whine and complain about how they HAVE to do this, and HAVE to buy that.....the season (and life in general!) shouldn't be about the latest toy, spending the most money, or fulfilling certain "obligations." Do what makes you happy. You'll feel better, and in most cases those around you will too.
23. Favorite thing about the Christmas Holidays? the over-arching sense that people can be BETTER....maybe even GOOD.
24. Most Memorable gift? Oh gosh. Hmmmm. The year that DH gave me the LOTR-elven jewelry box from the Noble Collection, and the pretty diamond-and-sapphire ring to go it was nice...
25. What's the one thing you seem to never get done at Christmas time? My house is generally a wreck....right now there is wrapping paper all over the dining room table, laundry to be put away in the bedroom, dishes to do in the sink....ack.

Finally, to demonstrate my non-Grinchiness, I give you an itty-bitty finish from the weekend. Somehow it feels like cheating to count this for the Multi-Project Challenge...but it is DONE, after all.... This was one of those 99-cent NeedleMagic kits, with icky string instead of floss. It was buried in my desk drawer at work for a loooong time! I made the little pillow with some scraps of fabric I had lying around.

Great answers, Erin! Your answer to #22 got me thinking--I think I've been doing some of that this year in terms of feeling obligated to do certain things. Thanks for a little reminder that this is supposed to be FUN! ;) Love the ornie!

So my mother and I set up our little table at the craft fair this past weekend.  And we didn't do terribly!  I sold $125 worth of needle...
