It was a good weekend. I think I've finally discovered a "rotation" scheme that might work for me and allow me to get some things finished -- I let myself work on any old thing (or start something new!) on Friday night/Saturday, and then commit to "Once Upon a Time" on Sunday. It was a great plan this past weekend, anyway....by Saturday night I was really looking forward to getting back to OUAT! Here she is.
I decided to backstitch her jaw and neck because DH kept insisting she was "all neck." Silly boy. If you want to see an even bigger version of the pic, there is one in my flickr account....
Aside from working on the Just Nan design Saturday, I also decided it was time for a thrift store run. I scorched a pair of my black dress pants with the iron a week or so ago, and none of the stores have black pants in stock anymore. Grrrr. Anyway, I spent about $21, and got a nice pair of black slacks, 5 shirts (1 Old Navy, 2 NY & Company, so nice stuff!), and a cute little blue skirt with dragonflies embroidered on it. And while pawing through the book bins, I found this... Heartstrings' "Ho Ho Company," for 50 cents. I don't always stitch Santas, but for 50 cents, I couldn't pass it up! I can almost always find some little stitchy thing at our thrift store. It kind of makes me sad, to think that these things may have belonged to a stitcher who has passed away and now no one wants them. Poor unloved stash. I will give it a home!!! Yay!!! (The finished bits of stitching I see there also break my heart...but I have to admit that many times they are dirty, poorly framed or finished, and/or the product of crummy little ornament kits and the like. If I ever found an abandoned sampler or something, that would be different.)

I love that piece, you have accomplished so much! Congrats :)
You have made wonderful progress. It is amazing what a difference just a little backstitch makes!
You're really making progress! Love the way it's coming out.
Your project looks great, definately not all neck. LOL I never thought of checking out thrift stores for bargain patterns, that's a great idea. :D
Uh oh... Thanx to your lovely progress pic, I think I've fallen in love with another of Marilyn's design. Keep up the great work!
Hello!
I'm stitching Once upon a time too.
I've just started the piece, I've stitched only the dove actually.
Your piece is growing beautiful!
