Period. I have a lot of respect and admiration for the designers of needlework-- even if I don't love all of their designs.

I often like L&L's designs, even though I wouldn't necessarily stitch a lot of them. However, Evangeline just looks weird to me... like the face was superimposed onto the design. I checked out the new Mirabilia and while I wasn't in love with it, I didn't really dislike it either.Juanitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16300640647404729714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8691534.post-1133920396097063962005-12-06T20:53:00.000-05:002005-12-06T20:53:00.000-05:00Yeah, I've been hearing the "designer jealousy" ac...Yeah, I've been hearing the "designer jealousy" accusations for years. in fact, a couple years ago the battle between the lovers and the haters (actually the "nah, not this one"ers, but that doesn't work so well lol) was so vicious on RCTN that it generated several hundred posts in a single week on one thread... and with me on vacation trying to keep up via dialup.

I totally agree on Evangeline. Too fancy for a hurricane survivor and probably for the average Cajun either. And that fabric color (which of course is changeable) simply makes me ill.

I haven't seen the latest Mira (at least I don't think I have) but she generally doesn't call to me anyway. Frankly, neither does her mother, but whatever.Jenn L in Chicagohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06013220406491741223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8691534.post-1133918688841086042005-12-06T20:24:00.000-05:002005-12-06T20:24:00.000-05:00I don't get the 'designer jealousy' either ... per...I don't get the 'designer jealousy' either ... personally I adore some designs by both designers, I also abhor some ;) In this case I tend to agree with you - I do really love the Mirabilia one (and I don't usually 'do' pinks - but I think this would be perfect for a little girl's gift I have in mind), but I don't like the L&L one at all. As for the wings on either designers pieces ... I simply remove them :) I'm going to be stitching Angel of Love next year, but she's going to "Lady of Love" without the wings ... will be interesting to see what she will look like without them :) And as you say, colours are changeable ...Anne Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10690824664591296103noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8691534.post-1133907103046800132005-12-06T17:11:00.000-05:002005-12-06T17:11:00.000-05:00Hi Erin, I agree with you. I do, though, like Forest Goddess quite a bit :-) I am quite decided about that, and my pal Karen is sending it to me for Christmas - can't wait!!!!

As for the designer jealousy issue - I remember nasty comments when she put Celtic Winter out - which I adore. Some wrote that it is just like the rest of the Celtics, etc. Well, duh, it's supposed to be part of a set LOL!! I just don't even get the jealousy part. Some folks just like to complain or have something to say about everything, I guess!!!! They can have their opinions, but maybe they could word them nicer :-)Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07979966913413598548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8691534.post-1133902206842822402005-12-06T15:50:00.000-05:002005-12-06T15:50:00.000-05:00I agree with you. I took a look at the two patterns you mentioned and I agree w/ your comments. Evangeline is a bit fluffy for what it is supposed to depict. And I really don't like the colors in Forest Goddess. You are entitled to your opinions, no matter what diehard fans think. ;)Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09302580559050607610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8691534.post-1133895285994956572005-12-06T13:54:00.000-05:002005-12-06T13:54:00.000-05:00I think your reactions to the designs are legitima...I think your reactions to the designs are legitimate. I don't personally like them, and I think the comment made about designer jealousy is unfounded. There are some designers I simply will not stitch - and my "jealousy" has nothing to do with it.Schoktihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12003889058823788446noreply@blogger.com
