Do you or have you stitched with over-dyed threads? (Weeks Dye Works,The Gentle Art Sampler Threads, Six Strand Sweets, etc.) If so, what is your opinion concerning them? If not, why not?

Yes, I have used over-dyed/variegated threads. In many cases, the effect is great.....but honestly, there are times when I feel they are unnecessary. For example, when I stitched Bent Creek's "Edu-CAT-ed," it called for several specialty fibers.

I used only the ones I already had (and I think I bought one, for the cat itself) and substituted DMC for the others. I think it turned out wonderfully, and I can't imagine anyone missing a VERY subtle variegated effect that was only 2 rows high. ::shrug:: However, when I stitched San-Man's "4-Square Peep," I used a great over-dye for the border, and it gave a wonderful effect that would have been much more difficult to achieve with solid-color floss.

So there you have it, a rather long answer to a simple question! Basically, I do like over-dyed flosses and I'm glad they are available -- however, I use them at my own discretion and not just because a pattern "tells" me to.

Last night I got quite a bit of stitching done - I worked on the wedding piece after dinner, and then once The Amazing Race was over at 9:00 I pulled out OUAT. I did some of the icky metallic around her neckline, and worked up into her face a bit. I've found a couple spots where my stitch tension got sloppy, and that always frustrates me. I'm sure once it is finished and framed, it won't even be noticeable....but I know. Grrrrr. Oh well.

Off to a doctor's appt. this afternoon - blech. Tomorrow is Friday......
