Things that go "bump" in my wallet

I never learn.

Having been home with a kiddo that had a gross stomach virus, I was feeling the need to indulge in retail therapy.  And, woodencha know, the special Halloween issue of Just Cross Stitch is available online!  So click click click, I own it.
I am once again reminded of how little I like the changes to JCS.

Blah.  There are only a handful of designs I like enough to stitch, and a couple of those are reminiscent of designs from previous years.  I printed off the "Carpe Noctem" bat (although I will NOT be stitching it on a t-shirt -- what is it, 1985 again?) and the "Boo" blocks, just because for $10 I figured I should stitch something from the issue.  But ugh.  There is just too much that I do not like - and I shouldn't be surprised, with design names like "Spooky Hollow Quilts," "Halloween Bouquet," "Victorian Halloween," and a couple others that just aren't my style.  It felt like everything was one extreme or another - tons of backstitching and shading to create not-quite-realistic weirdness, or way too primitive for my tastes.  Also, I'm not a big fan of the turn toward "bright and bold" colors that designers seem to be using lately.  Even that blue owl on the cover is a little too freaky for me.

Of course, I'm totally fine with a "to each their own" attitude, and I do hope others find things they like here!

Oh dear! I'm waiting for this to arrive in the UK.
Maybe things will look better if you see them stitched up? I do find that sometimes, I'll see an ornie I didn't like and the way someone has finished it makes it look much better.

Since I've never bought an e-magazine, it's too bad you weren't allowed to see what you were getting into like seeing what ornaments are in there and their colors. Here's an idea-hold a giveaway so you can get rid of it.

Oh dear, I'd love to find that mag available in UK :)
I quite like the owl on the cover & but can understand how you must feel when looking through your mag.
I have felt the same recently with UK mag and decided to stop spending silly money on them.
Might go back to them later on, but at the moment I'm always disappointed with the content!

As soon as I saw the picture in your post, I googled to go get that issue! LOL. Luckily, I saw a few of the pictures of what is inside the magazine and managed a pass. I think the only thing in there I like are the sugar skulls, but I don't think I like them $10 worth!

Craft Sale!

So my mother and I set up our little table at the craft fair this past weekend.  And we didn't do terribly!  I sold $125 worth of needle...
