As the unemployment line turns

So. Last week, my husband lost his job.

We don't know exactly what that means for us right now, other than the obvious "there will be no fun money" situation.... He is optimistic that he will find employment elsewhere ASAP, and I'm doing my best to be cheery and supportive. But inside I keep doing and re-doing our household budget....wondering if we can afford to keep Wee Bit in daycare...knowing that if we take her out and have her stay home with Dad, the money saved still won't be enough to cover his portion of the monthly bills (namely, his car payment and student loans) for very long....and if we take her out, we'll lose her spot, which would suck if DH finds a job later.

Argh. I'd much rather curl up in a cave and stitch and not acknowledge any of this.

Erin - I am so very sorry! That is just awful. I will cross my fingers, toes and eyes and hope that it helps him find employment quickly. And a little time on my knees might help too.
Sending warm hugs

I am so sorry to hear this. Can you get any sort of forbearance on the student loans for job loss?

sorry about your hubby's job. I do agree with you though, stitching helps in calming and relaxing the mind. Hope things get better for you very soon

Oh, not good! There are lots of resources on the internet to turn to for ideas to decrease expenses. The Simple Dollar is my favorite financial website, as he is raising three children and has similar values as myself. Use the couponing websites, too, to help with the grocery bills.

I'm so sorry.

If he approves, let us know his field and expertise. They say that the best way to find a new position is putting the word out and networking - what is a blog but the ultimate network? Some of us may have know of something or be able to make a suggestion of where to look.

Oh dear. I am sorry - I assume he was hit by state layoff woes?

I am glad to hear that at least you have sorted out the daycare issue for now, and that he had a good interview - that is a step in the good direction. Hang in there!
